@Steve Powell and this one too please 🙂 it is great tx @Hannah Mishan

Great thanks- I'm going to use Rebekahs internet (mine is still being rubbish ☹️) and record these two tomorrows

In this video I will expand on the functions of the simple format filters in the Causal Map App.

Once I open the filters toggle, simple format filters are the last category of filters and these filters alter the appearance of your map, not the data shown.

'Cluster factors' groups factors with labels containing whatever text you choose close to one another and surrounded by a grey box. This only affects the print map. I am going to cluster all the factors containing the word 'flood' and now I have clicked 'apply' you can see the grey box appear around them.

Next we have 'wrap factor labels' this changes the line-length of the factor labels. If I reduce that to 10 you can see the text of the factor labels is now on multiple lines. This changes the format on both the interactive and the print map.

The 'wrap link labels' does the same thing but for any labels you might have on your links. This map doesn't have any labels on the links so I can leave that filter.

Lastly, we have the 'set print format' filter. As you can see there are several options. Usually you will want to use the “dot” layout which is the default and will lay your map out in a left-to-right direction. However, other layouts can be useful, for example when you are interested in one factor and the factors directly linked to it the “circo” layout can be very helpful. You can have a play around and see what suits your map and your needs the best. Remember with all these filters you can click 'keep this panel open' to easily see how the different filters affect your map.

This video has focused on the formatting filters but there are plenty more factors to explore- so check out our other videos.
